After leaving his health started to become affected and Chris started to experience anxiety and had low self-esteem. His confidence was knocked massively and was looking for a way to get back on track. Whilst looking for support to return to work Chris found the Works Better website and contacted the team directly.
He was quickly seen and booked in for a meeting to see how the team could support him. His transitional support worker Anne Marie recognised that Chris was ready to return to work and was very motivated but just lacked that confidence and knowledge of the local labour market to get started.
After working with his Recruitment Support Officer (RSO) Kayleigh to build his CV and to submit some job applications, Chris didn’t get a response straight away so Kayleigh suggested some new ways to be seen by employers and Chris actively published his CV through online recruitment sites.
Within a couple of weeks, Chris had secured a job interview with a school in Shanghai and has been offered a teaching position. Chris flew out on the 14th August to start his new role in China, teaching English.
When asked about the support from Works Better Chris said; ‘’I would definitely recommend Works Wetter to anyone who is looking to return to work. The staff are so supportive and positive, and the programme is very inclusive and got me back on track and motivated again.
I have accessed other employment support programmes to help me to work but I felt that the support available wasn’t tailored to the person or very supportive, so it was refreshing working with Works Better.’’
Congratulations on your new role!
