Hayley was referred to Works Better via her Work Coach at the Job Centreplus. On Hayley’s first appointment she explained that she had been suffering with Anxiety for many years and didn't know what support was available to help her tackle this.
Hayley attended our confidence and wellbeing training courses, she found she enjoyed this and asked to be put onto the digital skills training to support her to be more aware and safe online and to learn some budgeting skills, to help her in day to day activties and open up her job prospects.
With her confidence increasing we looked at the type of jobs she would like to do. Hayley was really keen to work with Children, so her Transitional Support Worker found a course at Wakefield College that was perfect for Hayley. She has now completed her Level 1 Classroom Assistant and has enrolled for the level 2.
As Hayley wanted to work with children we had a talk about her own skills, from this it she noticed that her English skills needed developing and suggested that she would like to refresh on her English. Hayley has started a Level 2 English course to run alongside her Classroom Assistant.
Hayley is thriving on each appointment with Kelly, has positive things to say and is looking at finding a work placement so she is able to complete her level 3 Classroom Assistant training.
The Works Better team in Wakefield, hosted a recruitment event with Next distribution in February, which Hayley attended to look at jobs available and to have some interview experience. She passed the assessment and interview and was offered a position at next that she can do alongside her courses to develop a career working with children.
