Due to Naomi starting the apprenticeship just after high school she was no longer in education or any type of work and wasn’t sure what to do next.
Naomi felt that school she lacked the employability skills and resilience to gain employment without support after leaving high school and going straight into an apprenticeship.
With the Works Better 15-25 programme Naomi met with Sue, a Works Better Key Worker explained that she was wanting to gain another apprenticeship but wasn’t sure how to go about this. She also needed to improve her Maths as she felt this was something that was holding her back from going on to a higher-level apprenticeship after getting a low mark on her GCSEs.
She attended all appointments with Sue to look at specific apprenticeship websites, understand all the different sectors there are available to work in and how her skills and experience would help her into work.
After looking at different roles available Naomi saw a vacancy for a Digital Marketing apprenticeship with Kirklees Council. With her key worker the pair went through how to apply for this vacancy and create a cover letter that best showed Naomi’s skills and qualities that made her a perfect fit for the job.
A couple of days later Naomi was invited to a invited to an interview, where she met with our team beforehand to do some interview prep and build her confidence about . After some support with preparation Naomi was successful in interview and got the apprenticeship!
Alongside her apprenticeship Naomi will also be attending Kirklees College to work on her maths as well!
